Artisan sends alerts to Slack when something needs your attention, like a lead reply, a booked meeting, a website visit, or an account issue, so your team stays updated on important activity without logging into Artisan. You choose which channels or people get each notification and how often.

Connect the Slack integration

  1. In your Artisan dashboard, go to your profile.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Integrations.
  4. Find the Slack integration under Communication and click Connect Slack.
  5. Select your workspace and authorize Artisan.
  6. Close the configuration tab.
After Slack is connected, Ava is added to your workspace as a bot app. If your workspace requires admin approval for new apps, ask your Slack admin to approve Ava first.

Add Ava to Slack channels

Before Ava can post to a channel, she needs to be added to it. You can add Ava to a channel from the Artisan Notifications tab, or by inviting her to the channel manually in Slack.

Add Ava to a public channel

In Artisan, the channel dropdown for each notification type only lists the channels Ava has already joined. To send notifications to a channel Ava hasn’t joined, search for it and select Look up channel. Artisan will add Ava to that channel.
  1. Open the channel dropdown for the notification type you want.
  2. Type the channel name in the search bar.
  3. If the channel appears in the list, select it as the destination. If it doesn’t, click Look up channel. Ava joins it, and the channel appears in the dropdown.
  4. Select it as the destination.

Add Ava to a private channel

Ava can’t find private channels on her own, so you invite her from inside Slack first. Once she’s in, refresh the list in Artisan and the channel becomes available.
  1. In Slack, type /invite @ava in the private channel.
  2. In Artisan, open the channel dropdown for the notification type.
  3. If the channel is not visible, type the channel name in the search bar. Then click Refresh channels.
  4. Select the channel as the destination.

Configure notifications

Artisan lets you send each notification type to a specific Slack channel or person. A lead reply can post to your sales channel while performance reports go to an analytics channel, and anything you don’t need can be switched off.
  1. In your Artisan dashboard, go to your profile.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Notifications.
  4. For each notification type you want to be notified about, select a destination:
    • Channel: posts to that channel. Best for team-wide alerts.
    • Assigned user (DM): sends a direct message to the user assigned to the lead.
    • Don’t notify: disables Slack notifications for this notification type.
  5. For notifications that have frequency options, choose one.
The Assigned user (DM) option sends a direct message to the rep assigned to the lead. It’s not available for account-level notifications such as billing, urgent alerts, or performance reports.

Notification frequency

Most notifications are sent in real time. Three types have extra options in the Frequency column: Message reply alerts can be filtered by sentiment: choose All for every reply, Positive only for positive replies, or Neutral and negative for those replies only. Overdue tasks can be delivered daily or weekly. Performance reports can be delivered weekly or monthly.
