What you can do with a connected CRM
When you connect HubSpot or Salesforce, Artisan imports your people, companies, and deals from your CRM (Deal import is optional for Salesforce). On large accounts, the first import can take a while, since it pulls in all your records before it’s ready to use. As it imports, Artisan removes duplicate records, so connecting won’t create duplicates on the Artisan side even if your CRM has messy data. Once your records are in, you can target them in campaigns, build a campaign from a CRM list, and send each lead’s outreach from their CRM owner, who Artisan matches to your team when you connect. As you run outreach, Artisan logs emails, calls, meetings, and notes to the matching record in your CRM, and updates people based on your export settings. How your CRM records map in Artisan
Artisan works with three record types: people, companies, and deals. Each one maps to a record type in your CRM. In HubSpot, Artisan’s people map to contacts, companies map to companies, and deals map to deals. In Salesforce, Artisan’s people map to either leads or contacts, companies map to accounts, and deals map to opportunities.Salesforce treats leads and contacts differently, and that affects how your people are exported. A lead is a standalone record that isn’t linked to an account. A contact is linked to an account and generally sits further along in your pipeline.
Current limitations
There are a few things the CRM integrations don’t support yet.- Custom Salesforce objects aren’t supported.
- Salesforce campaigns aren’t supported.
- Salesforce reports can’t be imported yet.
Disconnecting your CRM
You can disconnect your CRM anytime from Settings, under Integrations. When you disconnect, Artisan deletes the records it imported from your CRM. Any records you’re also using in other Artisan lists (for example, a Prospector list) stay, and only their membership in the lists that came from your CRM is removed. Cleanup takes a little time, and you can’t reconnect the same CRM until it finishes.Frequently asked questions
What CRM access do I need to connect?
What CRM access do I need to connect?
You need to be a super admin in HubSpot. For Salesforce, you need to be a system administrator or a user with Modify All Data permission.
My Salesforce admin has Modify All Data, but the connection still fails. Why?
My Salesforce admin has Modify All Data, but the connection still fails. Why?
Artisan checks for Modify All Data on the user’s Salesforce profile. If that permission is granted through a permission set rather than the profile itself, the check won’t see it. Connect with a user whose profile includes Modify All Data (such as System Administrator), or reach out to support if you need to connect using permission-set-based access.
Will connecting Artisan change anything in my CRM?
Will connecting Artisan change anything in my CRM?
No. Connecting and importing your CRM data doesn’t change anything in your CRM. Artisan only writes back to your CRM as you run outreach, and you control what gets written back when you set up the integration.
Will importing my CRM data create duplicates in Artisan?
Will importing my CRM data create duplicates in Artisan?
No. Artisan removes duplicate records as it imports.
Can I connect both HubSpot and Salesforce at the same time?
Can I connect both HubSpot and Salesforce at the same time?
No. Only one CRM can be connected at a time. To switch from one to the other, disconnect the current CRM first, then connect the new one.
