# Create a sequence

The sequence defines the outreach cadence ithat Ava executes for each lead. It's the campaign's playbook: which channels to use, how long to wait between messages.

## Sequence steps

**Email:** Ava composes and sends an email from the sender's mailbox. The content is either AI-generated (using everything configured on the Messaging tab that will follow) or manually written by the user. Each email step can be individually set to AI or manual mode.

**Manual Task:** Creates a to-do item for the sender. The task appears on the sender's Tasks page for them to complete manually.

**Call:** Schedules a call task for the sender. Only available if the organization has a dialer subscription.

## AI-Generated vs. Manual Emails

Each email step in the sequence can be set to one of two modes:

**AI Generated** (the default and recommended approach): Ava writes a unique, personalized email for every prospect using the campaign's Messaging tab.

* No two emails are the same. This is the core value of Ava and is recommended by Artisan.

**Manual:** The user writes the exact email content (subject + body) that gets sent to every prospect identically.

* A "Use AI to improve flow" option lets Ava polish the manual draft if enrichments are used. This does a basic grammar check and ensures that the content of the enrichment flows naturally with the email.
